Building a Foundation for Student Wellbeing: WELL³ Project Update

As we reach April 2026, the WELL³ project (September 2025 – August 2027) is making significant strides in transforming school environments. Coordinated by S:t Iliansskolan, this initiative is dedicated to embedding sustainable wellbeing practices into the fabric of daily school life.

Over the past few months, we have solidified our project foundation. We have finalised comprehensive plans for Risk Assessment, Quality Assurance, and Green Practices. Crucially, our team has completed the specifications for the “WELLbeing Sensor”—a digital tool based on William Glasser’s five basic needs—and produced an initial draft of the “WELLbeing Guide,” designed to help schools integrate these principles into their development strategies.

Our current focus is on finalization and validation. We are in the closing stages of developing the digital questionnaires within Moodle, with completion expected in May 2026. Furthermore, we are preparing for a rigorous Expert Validation process, where 60 school leaders, teachers, and pedagogical experts will review our tools to ensure they are both practical and impactful.

Looking ahead, we are excited for our upcoming Transnational Project Meeting in Austria. Here, we will train representatives from all partner countries to become Wellness Facilitators and begin detailed planning for the “Year of WELLbeing” pilot, which will see our tools tested in 10 schools across Sweden, Austria, Portugal, and Italy.

We are proud of the progress made so far and look forward to the next phase of implementation. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to prioritise wellbeing in education.
