- What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognise your device and remember certain information about your visit, such as your preferences.
- How We Use Cookies
The WELL3 project website (https://wellbeingatschool.eu/) and the WELLbeing Platform (link) use a limited number of cookies to ensure these services function correctly and to understand how visitors interact with our content. We are committed to using cookies responsibly and in full compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679) and the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC).
Given that our platform is used by secondary school students, we apply extra caution in our use of cookies and limit data collection to the strict minimum.
- Types of Cookies We Use
3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the website and the WELLbeing Platform to function properly. Without them, features such as logging into the platform or completing the Wellbeing Sensor questionnaires would not work.
Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
cookie_consent | Records your cookie preference choice | 12 months |
session_id | Maintains your session while browsing the website | Session |
wep_session | Maintains your login session on the WELLbeing Platform | Session |
wep_lang | Remembers your language selection on the Platform (EN, DE, SE, IT, PT) | 6 months |
Legal basis: Legitimate interest — strictly necessary cookies do not require consent.
3.2 Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the website by collecting anonymous, aggregated information. We use this data to improve the website and to report on dissemination KPIs as required by the Erasmus+ Programme.
Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors | 2 years |
ga[ID] | Google Analytics | Maintains session state | 2 years |
_gid | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors | 24 hours |
_gat | Google Analytics | Throttles request rate | 1 minute |
Legal basis: Consent — these cookies are only set after you have given explicit consent via the cookie banner.
IP anonymisation: Google Analytics is configured to anonymise your IP address before storage. Your full IP address is never recorded.
Important: Analytics cookies are used on the project website only. The WELLbeing Platform (where the Wellbeing Sensor questionnaires are completed) does not use third-party analytics cookies in order to protect the privacy of student and teacher respondents.
3.3 Third-Party Cookies
If the website embeds content from third-party platforms (such as YouTube videos or social media sharing buttons), those services may set their own cookies. We do not control these cookies. Relevant privacy policies:
- YouTube / Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Facebook / Meta: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy
- Instagram / Meta: https://privacycenter.instagram.com/policy
- eTwinning: https://school-education.ec.europa.eu/en/etwinning/privacy
Third-party embedded content is only loaded after you have accepted the corresponding cookie category via the cookie banner.
- Cookies and the WELLbeing Platform
The WELLbeing Platform (containing the Wellbeing Sensor, Wellbeing Treasury, and Guide) uses only strictly necessary cookies for session management and language preferences. No advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies are used within the Platform environment. This ensures that students, teachers, and school leaders can use the Sensor questionnaires in a safe, private, and distraction-free environment.
